Blake Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds battled it out for the top of the box office over the weekend, but the young upstart couldn't unseat the current champion.

The romantic drama co-starring actor and director Justin Baldoni earned a healthy $50 million its first weekend in theaters but debuted at number two while Reynolds' Marvel adventure squeaked by with $54. Big names such as Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis, along with Jack Black and Kevin Hart couldn't save the project from critics, who gave it a nine-percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The supernatural thriller from writer and director M. Knight Shyamalan about a father and daughter who find themselves trapped at an evil event masquerading as a pop concert conjured up $6.725 million over the weekend.
