According to the pop star, she also used the event to tease something coming in the future, revealing that the look she wore on the red carpet is an “Easter egg” that also happens to express how she’s feeling in terms of her gender identity. While speaking to Vogue correspondent Emma Chamberlain on the carpet ahead of the event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Lorde was eager to show off her custom Thom Browne getup. The event comes less than a week after Lorde announced her fourth studio album, Virgin, meaning fans have both a lot of music to look forward to as well as ample room to start decoding by way of Easter eggs.
