“I wore kind of like a ‘hot girl’ dress,” continued the “Royals” singer, who attended the event in a form-fitting green gown and heels. The next day, Lorde says she and producer Jim-E Stack “were in the studio kind of hung over, and I was like, ‘I wanna write a song about how I’m the Man of the Year for me. In a cover story interview with Rolling Stone published earlier in May, she discussed how recovering from an eating disorder and stopping birth control allowed her to feel more at home in her own body and masculinity, adding, “I’m a woman except for the days when I’m a man.”
