Korea Box Office: ‘The Match’ Dominates Again as ‘The Amateur’ Debuts at No. 2


The South Korean box office remained under local control for the third consecutive weekend as 'The Match' retained the top spot with $2 million.

The sports drama, based on the legendary Go rivalry between Cho Hun-hyun and Lee Chang-ho, added 306,028 admissions, bringing its cumulative gross to $11.8 million and total admissions to 1.81 million, according to Kobis, the tracking service operated by the Korean Film Council. The film, starring Rami Malek as a CIA cryptographer who goes rogue, has now grossed $492,149 since its April 9 release. 2017 Japanese romantic drama “Let Me Eat Your Pancreas” saw a rerelease this weekend and placed fifth with $90,039 and 14,685 admissions, pushing its long-term Korean total to $2.7 million.
