Joanne Froggatt cuts a stylish appearance as she arrives at Virgin Studios after it was announced Downton Abbey will return

The actress, 43, donned an all black ensemble as she opted for a long black dress for her appearance on Graham Norton's show on Saturday.

Co-written by Line Of Duty creator Jed Mercurio and former doctor Prasanna Puwanarajah, the three-part drama begins in March 2020 as the world comes to terms with the spread of a virus that to date has claimed 230,000 lives in the UK. Joanne’s character, Dr Abbey Henderson, an acute medicine consultant and mother-of-two, works at a city hospital in England and is quicker than most to realise that the NHS – and the UK in general – is ill-prepared for what’s about to hit. Bosses hoped to be able to bring back Joanne alongside some of the other big name actors such as Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, and Elizabeth McGovern who appeared in the previous six seasons and two movie spin-offs.
