Hear Bob Dylan Cover Johnny Cash’s ‘Big River’ For First Time in 21 Years


Bob Dylan covered Johnny Cash's 1958 classic "Big River" for the first time since a guest appearance with the Dead in 2003.

Dylan covered the Johny Cash classic on the Basement Tapes in 1967 and sang it as a duet with the Man in Black two years later during the "Nashville Skyline" sessions Bob Dylan performs as a surprise guest during Farm Aid at Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center on September 23, 2023 in Noblesville, Indiana. Two years later, Dylan recorded Cash’s tunes “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Belshazzar,” and “Big River” during the Basement Tapes sessions.
