Breathtaking star Joanne Froggart - 'We had a two day medical bootcamp for new Covid drama'

Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt stars in ITV's new coronavirus drama Breathtaking - and reveals that nothing has affected her like this series in "27 years of reading scripts"

The three-part drama looks at how NHS workers in one hospital cope with the national crisis, facing shortages of personal protective equipment whilst caring for their colleagues who contract the deadly virus. Ahead of the intense filming process, Joanne, 43, underwent two days in a medical boot camp to prepare for the emotionally-taxing role. Joanne said that making the drama was a "very grounding and emotive experience" (Image: chris barr)Breathtaking is based on a book by journalist-turned-medic Rachel Clarke and has been adapted for the screen by doctor-turned-screenwriter Jed Mercurio.
