'Red Island,' a film by '120 BPM' director Robin Campillo, has been acquired by New York-based company Film Movement for North American distribution.
“Since ‘Les Revenants’ and ‘Eastern Boys,’ we’ve eagerly followed Robin’s career as an auteur and truly original filmmaker,” Film Movement president Michael Rosenberg and Playtime managing director Nicolas Brigaud-Robert said in a statement. “‘120 BPM’ and ‘Red Island’ have brought him to the forefront of modern French cinema, and we’re excited to share him with cineastes across North America beginning this August.” Film Movement’s recent acquisitions include “Close Your Eyes” by Victor Erice, “Sisi & I” starring Oscar winner Sandra Huller, and “Eureka” from Argentinian director Lisandr Alonso, among others.
