The 2012 movie hit of the same name showed what things were like for bumbling man-child John Bennett (then played by Mark Wahlberg) as he ambled through grown-up life with the help of his magically alive, foul-mouthed teddy bear Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane). When she's not keeping up her image as one of the gentry, Eliza ( Peaky Blinders' Kate Phillips) solves crime with her own agency and, occasionally, the help of a boozy police officer - William 'The Duke' Wellington, hence the title - who is played by Jamestown's Stuart Martin. Filmed in Liverpool, the show’s cast is exclusively local, with young rising stars appearing alongside established names including Ackley Bridge’s Sunetra Sarker, Brookside’s Louis Emerick and Cold Feet’s Leanne Best as Reece’s dauntless mum Jo.
