Years After A Viral Photo Of Him Working At Trader Joe’s Prompted Widespread Mockery, “The Cosby Show” Actor Geoffrey Owens Revealed That He Still Struggles To Make A Living
“I struggle every day to make my ends meet, and people can’t get their heads around that because they see me in movies,” said Geoffrey, six years after he was photographed bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s.
Geoffrey noted that while he was initially “devastated” when the photo went viral, he ended up receiving tons of supportive messages from people “all over the world.” “My wife and I started to read these responses from literally all over the world of support, and so, fortunately, the shame part didn’t last very long. Why are you having financial troubles?’ They don't understand the specifics of how my industry works,” he said before clarifying that he doesn’t receive “wonderful” residual payments for his time on The Cosby Show.
