Yahoo, McAfee Team Up to Verify Authenticity of News Images
Yahoo News and McAfee have struck a partnership that will use the latter's technology to identify images that may have been digitally manipulated
The news-distribution giant, the holder of one of the most-read sites on the Internet, has struck a pact with McAfee that will utilize the latter’s deepfake-image detection technology to identify pictures and photos that may have been generated by A.I. In the current moment, he says, individuals have more ability to create and distribute their own images, even if they have been changed in a meaningful or misleading way, such as a politician being made to seem as if they are holding a gun rather than a microphone. Team One, an agency that is part of the French advertising conglomerate Publicis Groupe, has introduced a new technology called Faikchek that can help marketers scan for “deepfake” spoofs and images of their brands and ad messages.
