“I was dating this girl for a while and, I don’t know, one of those days I just went in the studio and recorded a cover for her and it wasn’t an original or anything,” Kidder recalled. “I just thought it’d be a nice gesture … but then my mom got a hold of it and she actually just was like, ‘Woah, this is really good.’ So she starts sending it around to people, and then you get traction and just roll with it.” Oliver was traveling home from a Caribbean vacation with his two daughters — Madita and Annik, whom he shared with wife Jessica Klepser — on January 4.
