Winona Ryder Says She’s Missed Flights Repeating Her Famous Beetlejuice Line for TSA Agents: 'It Became a Thing'

In an interview to promote 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,' Winona Ryder reflected on the lasting popularity of the original 1988 horror-comedy classic, recalling just how often fans have asked her to repeat her character Lydia Deetz’s iconic lines from the film.

“I have missed flights because the TSA people wouldn't let me through unless I said it three times,” Ryder told Tyrone Edwards in a clip from their interview shared on Sunday, Aug. 25. Said by Lydia in the original Tim Burton movie, the line summons Beetlejuice (Keaton) into the mortal world to wreak havoc on the living. It’s Lydia who “discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened."
