Willem Dafoe to play real-life NBC bigwig in upcoming SNL 1975 origin film starring Kaia Gerber and Finn Wolfhard
Directed by Jason Reitman, SNL 1975 is based on the real-life story of what happened behind-the-scenes during the moments leading up to the sketch show's first broadcast.
The film will also explore the behind-the-scenes chaos amongst SNL's original cast of then-young comedians that included: John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtain, Dan Aykroyd, Garrett Morris and Laraine Newman. SNL 1975, which began shooting earlier in March, tries to capture the chaos and shenanigans of the original cast of young comedians that ultimately would help change television forever, including John Belushi, Gilda Radner, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtain, Dan Aykroyd , Garrett Morris and Laraine Newman; they are all pictured in a skit from the first season Some of his other more notable performances came in The Last Temptation Of Christ (1988), Mississippi Burning (1988), Born On The Fourth Of July (1989), Wild At Heart (1990), Clear And Present Danger (1994), Basquiat (1996), The English Patient (1996), Affliction (1997), American Psycho (2000), Spider-Man (2002), Once Upon A Time In Mexico (2003), Daybreakers (2009), A Most Wanted Man (2014), John Wick (2014) and Poor Things (2023).
