“Will General Michael Flynn be returning as the National Security Advisor?” The tweet exploded into replies, hopeful, cynical, and downright bewildered. It was D reply that carved out most of an elaborate one, referring to Flynn as a “bad ass choice” and adding that “he’s a very good man, soldier, father, husband, etc.” There are a lot of exclamations in this one, but the enthusiasm strikes beautifully. The reactions show how much of a dividing line Flynn still is drawn in public opinion-he’s either hailed as a hero or hogtied to a fetter-like figure.
