Why Zara Tindall isn't a Princess but cousins Beatrice and Eugenie are

While Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie were given official titles from birth, Princess Anne reportedly refused her mother's offer of a royal title for her two children, Peter and Zara

This would explain why the late Queen's eldest granddaughter, Zara Tindall, does not have a royal title of her own - but the monarch did reportedly offer to change the rules. The answer behind why Louise is styled as a Lady, rather than as a Princess lies in her father’s original title - The Earl of Wessex - which was bestowed upon him on his wedding day to Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999. At the time, there was speculation that the couple's two children would opt to change their titles and become Princess Louise and Prince James of Edinburgh.
