Why Trooping the Colour May Look Different Amid Charles' Cancer


Royal historian, Gareth Russell, explained why the 2024 Trooping the Colour will be different this year due to King Charles III’s cancer battle

Last year for his first Trooping as monarch, Charles revived the old practice of riding horseback alongside the military during the parade from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards. Last year, Charles appointed several of his family members to ceremonial military roles, including wife Queen Camilla, son Prince William and daughter-in-law Princess Kate Middleton. Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that King Charles III received a cancer diagnosis one week after he was admitted to The London Clinic to undergo treatment for an enlarged prostate.
