Why Colin Farrell Is Putting Son, 21, in Long-Term Care Facility

The Penguin actor Colin Farrell discusses his 21-year-old son James entering long-term care and the impact of Angelman syndrome on his family

The Penguin actor has spoken in the past about son James — whom he shares with former partner Kim Bordenave — having Angelman syndrome, a genetic disorder that impacts the nervous system and can cause developmental disability as well as issues with speech and balance. Farrell, 46, and Henry were a dynamic duo at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 12, donning matching black and white Dolce and Gabbana tuxedos while attending Hollywood’s biggest event of the year. Colin said at the time that he was speaking out about James’ journey in order to convince “the world to be kind” to people who are nonverbal, like his son.
