The ‘American Idol’ showrunner revealed in a new interview that they had been ‘talking to Carrie’ about replacing Katy Perry.

According to showrunner Megan Wolflick, the series is in a “new era” with the “Somethin’ Bad” artist coming back 20 years after winning season 4 of the competition. “We have been searching, you know, and obviously talking to Carrie for a little bit here,” Megan told Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, August 1. “When we open up that first page, it is just as exciting as closing a chapter, and I cannot wait to embark on this journey with our first Idol alum with the panel.”
