Whoopi Goldberg Says Bakery ‘Refused’ to Sell Her Desserts Because ‘They Did Not Like My Politics’; Store Owner Refutes the Claim and Cites Equipment Issue

Whoopi Goldberg says she was denied ordering desserts from a bakery for her birthday because of her political beliefs.

Whoopi Goldberg celebrated her 69th birthday on the Nov. 13 episode of “ The View,” but the party ended with a rather shocking revelation that a bakery refused to sell the EGOT-winner desserts because of her political beliefs. “Now, I should tell you, Charlotte Russe has no political leanings, and the place that made these refused to make them for me,” Goldberg said as the live studio audience gasped. As EW reports: “Goldberg initially requested treats for a Nov. 6 appearance on a talk show, and for the Nov. 13 broadcast of ‘The View’ — both of which she declined because she ‘didn’t want to make a commitment that I can’t carry through’ over the uncertainty of her equipment.
