Whoopi Goldberg defends Jo Koy after comic's ill-received outing hosting Golden Globes: 'These hosting gigs are brutal'
Koy's outing - in which he was panned by both the crowd and online - came up during the ABC talk show's Hot Topics segment on Monday.
His most notable poorly-received joke took aim at Taylor Swift amid her ballyhooed relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Haines said that the stars should not have booed Koy for taking jabs at celebs such as Taylor Swift, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Robert De Niro and Kevin Costner in his routine. Alyssa Farah Griffin praised Koy as being one of her favorite past guests on the ABC show, and said that because he's 'such an inherently nice person ... doing more of a roast is not natural for him.'
