Who Is Southern Charm’s Patricia Altschul? Meet Charleston’s Favorite Southern Socialite
Southern Charm returns for season 10 and longtime fan favorite Patricia Altschul will be back with her no-nonsense etiquette rules and snarky commentary.
She married her first husband, L. Hayes Smith, in 1962, and went on to give birth to her only son, Whitney Sudler-Smith, the executive producer of Southern Charm. Patricia went on to become a prominent figure in the upper echelon and was eventually named to the Board of the New York Historical Society and the Rockefeller family Hudson Hills Trust. In 2017, she wrote The Art of Southern Charm, a book detailing etiquette on everything from “hosting a memorable cocktail party, to decoding the dress code for any event, to handling a drunken boor at the dinner table, to delivering the perfectly phrased insult.”
