Who is Romesh Ranganathan as he takes over from Claudia Winkleman on BBC Radio 2

Comedian Romesh Ranganathan, who starts a new role on Saturday mornings on Radio 2, opened up about his childhood and the impact his parents' split and dad's arrest had on him

Despite having a thing for teaching, Romesh dared to venture into comedy in 2011, but only after settling his late father's affairs, which included managing the Prince of Wales pub in East Grinstead, alongside his brother. In what he describes as one of the darkest times of his adult life, Romesh couldn't even afford to tax his car, resulting in a slew of fines and ultimately leading him to ditch the vehicle.
