Which Films Got the Longest Standing Ovations at Cannes?
Us Weekly dives into the Cannes 2025 standing ovations to reveal which films received the most clapping and what it could mean for awards success
Leo Lewis O’Neil ’s raw documentary that centers on Shia LaBeouf ’s experimental theater company and devolves into what Variety calls “ego-driven insanity, complete with physical violence and harrowing screaming matches,” garnered a two-minute ovation. The film also stars Benicio Del Toro, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Willem Dafoe and F. Murray Abraham in an ensemble dysfunctional family comedy set in 1950. Not only did Richard Linklater ’s French-language title (starring Guillaume Marbeck and Zoey Deutch) earn an 11-minute ovation from the crowd, including an enthusiastic Quentin Tarantino, it also drew the Pulp Fiction filmmaker to watch the film twice in just eight hours.
