Hours before taking home the award, the 22-year-old pop star sang the whisper-soft track as her brother/producer played piano, earning thunderous applause from audience members such as Ariana Grande, Margot Robbie, America Ferrera and Kate McKinnon. Closing out the night’s performances, Ryan Gosling got the crowd on its feet for an over-the-top showcase of “I’m Just Ken,” also from Barbie, alongside Mark Ronson — who co-wrote the satirical ballad with Andrew Wyatt — Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Guns N’ Roses’ Slash. Wearing a black cowboy hat and pink sparkly suit, the actor began by serenading Robbie, his onscreen leading lady, before hopping onstage for some intricate group choreography complete with backup dancers and cutouts of the famous doll’s head.
