The alleged inspiration behind ‘Baby Reindeer’ is suing Netflix for defamation despite the streamer claiming the series is fictional
Baby Reindeer fans are obsessed with identifying the real-life people who inspired the hit Netflix series, but the show’s creators have advised against making one-to-one comparisons. “We intend to defend this matter vigorously and to stand by Richard Gadd‘s right to tell his story,” the streaming platform said in a statement to the U.K.’s Sky News in June. According to USA Today, the streaming service argued that the statements about Harvey are “substantially true.” However, the judge disagreed since there are considerable differences between the series and the real-life events.
