As America's Got Talent starts its 20th season, Life & Style takes a look back at fan favorite contestant Archie Williams and what happened to the singer.
Archie went on to reveal how singing got him through hard times while incarcerated at the Louisiana State Penitentiary after being sentenced to 80 years to life in prison for a rape and assault he didn’t commit. He made an unforgettable debut with a cover of Elton John ’s “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” moving all four judges to tears and earning a standing ovation from the studio audience. After the request was granted in 2019 by Commissioner Kinasiyumki Kimble of the 19th Judicial District Court, the prints came back to Stephen Forbes, who committed at least five other rapes in the same neighborhood in the years following the 1982 sexual assault.
