Molly Shannon's 'Saturday Night Live' character Mary Katherine Gallagher made an appearance in a video Kamala Harris recorded for the Al Smith Dinner.

Kamala Harris wasn’t in attendance at the traditional Al Smith Dinner in New York on Thursday night, but offered a video consolation to attendees instead. Harris enlisted actress Molly Shannon, who revived her beloved Saturday Night Live character, Catholic school girl Mary Katherine Gallagher. Harris then invites Mary Katherine to help her write her speech for the dinner, which she describes as “an important tradition that I’m so proud to be a part of.” “My feelings about what you should say tonight would be best expressed in a monologue from one of my favorite made-for-TV series,” Shannon replies.
