Bob Marley: One Love, produced in partnership with the Marley family, hits theaters on Valentine’s Day.
Ben-Adir — the British actor known for the TV series The OA and Peaky Blinders and as one of the Kens in the Barbie movie — captures Marley’s mannerisms and arm-waving moves in the clip as he lip-syncs to the classic song. In a sign of the times, Marley & The Wailers all record in one room simultaneously in the clip, as opposed to isolating vocals and instrumentals as is commonly done now. “Jamming” famously includes the lyric “No bullet can stop us now.” Marley was shot during a 1976 home invasion in Jamaica in an assassination attempt and fully recovered from his injuries.
