Vince Vaughn believes Hollywood execs are too cautious nowadays when it comes to financing the type of R-rated comedies that launched his career. Vaughn used the board game Battleship, which inspired the 2012 film of the same name, as an example of Hollywood turning an IP into a “vehicle for storytelling” simply because it has a recognizable name. But Vaughn is hopeful that films similar to R-rated comedies from the ’90s and early 2000s will return to the big screen.
