Vietnam’s Mockingbird Pictures Enters International Sales With Record-Breaking Horror ‘Quy Cau’
Vietnamese distributor Mockingbird Pictures is making its debut as a seller at Filmart with a slate of local horror, comedies and action films.
Directed by Luu Thanh Luan, the film is based on an urban legend in Vietnam in which a white dog with a red nose transforms into a devil at midnight bringing a string of bad luck and consecutive deaths to an innocent family. Two other upcoming titles on Mockingbird’s slate are drama My Husband’s Secret Mistres s, directed by Nguyen Ngoc Lam and starring Thai Hoa ( Blood Moon Party), and Tran Nhan Kien’s family drama The Black Sheep, about a young man who dreams of being a director but is under pressure to take over his father’s moon cake shop. Mockingbird is also selling action comedy Hustler Vs Scammer, directed by Vo Thanh Hoa, one of the biggest hits at the Vietnamese box office last year, grossing $15.6M.
