Vera star hints at spin-off after quitting ITV series
Ibinabo Jack, who played Jac Williams in Vera, suggested a prequel could be on the cards before it was announced that the ITV drama was coming to an end after 14 series
The Vera fandom was sent into a frenzy on Monday 22 April with the news that the 14th series of the ITV hit would be its last, marking the end of an era as Brenda Blethyn dons her iconic trench coat and fisherman's hat for one final outing. With the ink barely dry on the announcement, rumours of a spin-off began swirling, with fans eager to see Vera stars like David Leon and Kenny Doughty, or even Happy Valley's Sarah Lancashire take the reins. The producers, dream cast and crew have been fabulous and I’m going to miss them, but I won’t forget their huge talent, the camaraderie, laughter or kindness we shared nor the friendship of the people of the north east and our fans worldwide.
