Variety has promoted Ellise Shafer to deputy editor of international.
Under her watch, working closely with executive editor of international Elsa Keslassy, Variety has experienced a 35% growth in traffic for stories in the global vertical. “Since moving to London two years ago, Ellise has helped reinvent Variety ‘s digital coverage abroad, specializing in breaking news and industry scoops. Shafer will remain Variety.com’s main web editor of international content and will help organize the news coverage of major European film festivals including Cannes, Venice and Berlin.
