Vanilla Ice goes from being a '90s hitmaker to running a real estate empire valued at $20 MILLION: 'I made millions for doing nothing!'

He had one of the modest identifiable hits of the 1990s before fading away. But Vanilla Ice turned to real estate afterward and amassed an astonish $20M fortune from flipping houses.

Van Winkle technically avoided the one-hit wonder label thanks his his popular cover of Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music, but his success quickly dwindled as the '90s progressed. In addition to his newfound skill as a real estate magnate, Vanilla Ice developed a taste for renovating old and dilapidated properties after one of his many homes was severely damaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1992. He decided to renovate the home himself before putting it on the market, and he credited the DIY experience with developing a passion for real estate that has sustained him in the decades since he stopped being a charting musician.
