EXCLUSIVE: UTA has inked Chinese filmmaker and 2024 Un Certain Regard Prize winner, Guan Hu, for representation in all areas. The filmmaker is part of a sixth generation of Chinese directors, has directed and written numerous features including his 2020 war epic The Eight Hundred, which became the highest-grossing live-action film worldwide that year with close to a half billion. Guan is currently working on a new film, Dongji Island, based on a true story of the sinking of the Lisbon Maru during World War II and the heroic Chinese fishermen who risked their lives in an international sea rescue mission.
