Unexpected Aussie star cast in 'very first movie' alongside actor Russell Crowe

An unlikely Aussie star has been cast in Russell Crowe's new US-made film, Beast in Me.

Co-starring alongside Neighbours actor Daniel MacPherson and Luke Hemsworth, this will be the first time the 38-year-old Australian Idol judge has ever acted in a film. Meanwhile, Variety reported last September that the US-produced film was to be co-written by the Oscar winner alongside American screenwriter David Frigero, who is also a producer on the picture. Crowe portrays a veteran trainer who helps MacPherson's character get back into shape for a significant bout at the leading MMA event, One Championship.
