UMG Responds to Drake’s Lawsuit Over Alleged ‘Artificially Inflated’ 'Not Like Us' Streams
In a statement, the music corporation called Drake’s allegations over the hit Kendrick Lamar single 'offensive and untrue.'
On Monday, November 25, three days following the release of Kendrick Lamar’s sixth album, GNX, Drake filed a lawsuit against UMG via Frozen Moments LLC, alleging that that record company enacted a “scheme” to promote the Mustard-produced song via payola, bots, and other techniques. In accordance with New York state law, UMG has also been accused of fraudulent promotion and misleading business activities. No amount of contrived and absurd legal arguments in this pre-action submission can mask the fact that fans choose the music they want to hear,” the company wrote.
