UK school closures announced as 28-hour snow storm arrives
The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice until Wednesday morning, and as of 6am Tuesday, there have been school closures confirmed in England.
In Yorkshire, North Halifax Grammar School decided to close due to the settling snow and the prediction of several more hours of heavy snowfall through the night. According to OxfordMail.co.uk, Orion Academy in Blackbird Leys, Oxford, is facing a second day of closure due to an electrical supply issue. Charity Age UK has issued a warning about the treacherous conditions, highlighting the risks particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly.
