UK households can get £500 for food and bills in January with no benefits needed
The Household Support Fund has been extended and local councils are handing out payments from the Department for Work and Pensions for people to spend on food, energy bills and essentials
The government's website states: "Funding is aimed at anyone who's vulnerable or cannot pay for essentials. It also reassures that "If you get benefits, they will not be affected if you get a payment from a Household Support Fund scheme. For example, some councils share out money through local charities and community groups and some limit household applications to one per year."
