UK heatwave warning as Brits told to prepare emergency kit and sleep downstairs amid 34C weather
The Met Office has issued two weather warnings ahead of the 34C heatwave, with households advised to take a number of precautions in order to stay safe and comfortable
To stay cool, people are advised to take lukewarm showers before bed, opt for a light duvet, and consider sleeping downstairs where temperatures are usually cooler. If the upstairs remains too warm, temporarily relocating to a foldable bed or sun lounger downstairs on a cool, tiled floor is recommended. The Met Office's forecast for Monday reads: "A very hot and humid day in the south with some sunny spells and staying largely dry.
