Latest weather maps show the UK is set to be plunged into freezing conditions for some 48 hours with temperatures plummeting as low as -12C, with a white Christmas on the cards for some
However, the Met Office has cautioned that it's too early to confirm a white Christmas, stating that single models aren't reliable enough for a detailed forecast and should be considered as part of a wider range of information. They explained: "Sometimes, just a fraction of a degree in temperature can make the difference between the chance to build a beautifully formed snowman, and the joys of a sleety slushy day", reports the Express. From Sunday into Tuesday, northern and western regions can anticipate periodic rain spells, while other areas should remain largely dry albeit under persistent cloud cover.
