With global platforms, it’s key to recognise that they aren’t aligned with authored cinema, films focusing on art, aesthetics, controversial topics, or truth to power in non-fiction investigation and journalism. There is a great smart book by Shoshana Zuboff called “The Age of Capitalism.” What it captures is that perfect storm in the post 9/11 world, which led to a surrender of privacy and a shift of what we thought was right: the internet, fake news, streaming and social media.
