Tyne Daly, 77, to be replaced by Amy Ryan, 55, in Broadway revival of Catholic sex abuse drama Doubt after Daly was 'unexpectedly hospitalized'

The actress Tyne Daly has been forced to withdraw from a Broadway revival of the modern classic drama Doubt: A Parable.

Doubt: A Parable was published by John Patrick Shanley in 2004 and details a Catholic nun's quest to remove a priest she believes may have sexually abused a young boy in the mid-1960s, despite a lack of conclusive evidence. However, her understudy Isabel Keating was able to step in starting on Saturday for her role as Sister Aloysius Beauvier, the strict and often cold head nun and principal of a fictional Catholic grade school located in the Bronx in 1964. Daly was unexpectedly hospitalized on Friday and unfortunately needs to withdraw from the production while she receives medical care; she is thankfully expected to make a full recovery,' a representative for the play said in a statement; seen in 2019 in NYC
