Tyler Perry’s ‘Divorce in the Black’ Drives More U.S. Prime Video Subscriptions Than Any Other Amazon MGM Movie, Studio Says (EXCLUSIVE)
Tyler Perry's latest film 'Divorce in the Black' has driven more Prime Video sign-ups in the U.S. than any Amazon MGM Studios-produced movie to date.
When her husband Dallas (Cory Hardrict) abandons their marriage, Ava is at first devastated and determined to fight for their union, the official logline explains, “until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.” Perry wrote and directed the film as part of his four-picture pact with Amazon Studios. The company previously touted “Road House” as a top performer, with more than 50 million worldwide viewers in its first two weeks of release. The Jake Gyllenhaal-led remake is set to get a sequel, which Amazon MGM Studio chief Jennifer Salke revealed at the first-ever upfront presentation in May.
