Tyler Perry will write and direct Netflix ‘s upcoming movie “Straw,” a tense drama starring Taraji P. Henson, Sherri Shepherd and Teyana Taylor. “Straw” is the latest project from Perry and Netflix’s film creative partnership that will have the filmmaker write, direct and produce features under a mult-year, first-look deal. His recent filmography includes the twisty “Mea Culpa” with Kelly Rowland, courtroom thriller “A Fall From Grace,” romantic drama “A Jazzman’s Blues” and “A Madea Homecoming,” the 11th and final chapter in Perry’s commercially successful franchise about a tough-talking, gun-toting grandmother.
