Twitch Will Have DJs Who Monetize Their Livestreams Pay A Fee For Music Use
Amateurs will not have to pay under the new plan, at least for now.
The online community service has entered into a partnership with record labels to institute the fees, according to a report by Engadget. How much the DJs will have to pay is not known, but Twitch and the music purveyors will reportedly split the fees. Twitch will also be offering a one-year subsidy to select DJs to help cover the difference between earnings and money paid to labels.
