Shout out to the TV Academy as it sticks up for diversity, equity and inclusion even as some of the major media companies go spineless.
Once the Trump administration started signing executive orders demanding the end of diversity, equity and inclusion programs in the government, the White House also urged private companies to abandon such outreach. Turns out corporations like Target weren’t as open and progressive as we thought they were — and I find myself shopping a lot less there after the retailer said earlier this year it would conclude its diversity, equity and inclusion goals. “If we want our industry to thrive, to lead culture instead of chasing it, we need to make room for more voices, not fewer,” says TV Academy chairman Cris Abrego.
