True Detective: Night Country review - Deja vu as Jodie Foster's cop meets a blizzard of weirdness, writes CHRISTOPHER STEVENS

Christopher Stevens: True Detective: Night Country appears to be a remake of another show entirely. Set in Alaska it charts an investigation into the disappearance of government scientists.

In the first hour, there's the spectre of a dead man called Travis who has no shoes and probably died from frostbite of the feet, plus a monster that whooshes across corridors when backs are turned, and an unseen voice that yells, 'She's awake!' Streets Of Gold: Mumbai (BBC2) centred on the star of another remake — Anupam Mittal, one of the entrepreneur investors on Shark Tank, India's version of Dragons' Den Anupam gave us a guided tour of his Mumbai penthouse and invited the cameras to inspect his racehorse Democracy before the Indian Derby, but it was touching that he plainly cared much more about his small daughter than any of his riches.
