Trudie Styler-Directed Doc ‘An Ode to Naples’ Gets U.S. Premiere at MoMA Hosted by John Turturro

Trudie Styler's doc 'An Ode to Naples' is set for a U.S. premiere at MoMA hosted by John Turturro.

Styler’s high-profile doc delves into the belly of the unique southern Italian port city, located in the shadow of active volcano Mount Vesuvius, that is known for its resilience, crime and creative energy. Her “Ode” features, among others, “Gomorrah” author Roberto Saviano; Alessandra Clemente, a Naples municipal councillor whose mother was murdered in a mob shootout; the women involved in Forti Guerriere, an organization against domestic violence and femicide; and a musical performance by Sting, who is Styler’s husband. In her directors’ notes, Styler — who has had a home in Tuscany for two decades — points out that “it’s only the wind that has protected Naples from Vesuvius’s dangerous lava and ash.”
