Triple-negative breast cancer explained as Emmerdale's Chas Dingle gets diagnosis

Following Emmerdale favourite Chastity Dingle's devastating breast cancer diagnosis, we take a closer look at what exactly triple-negative breast cancer is and how it's treated

Initially fearing that it would mean a death sentence, just like it was in her mum’s case, Chas tried to avoid going to see someone about the lump, but after a little soul searching plucked up the courage to speak to Dr Manpreet Sharma who arranged for an urgent mammogram and appointment at the breast clinic, which also took a biopsy. In addition, if your GP suspects that your breast cancer may be inherited, due to a family history of people with the disease, you may also be referred on for genetic testing to find out if there is a problem with your BRCA genes. In addition, you may also be given a special type of medication called bisphosphonates, which you take alongside your other treatments to help treat or reduce bone damage caused by breast cancer.
